Vlad Tenev, co-founder & CEO at Robinhood, announced that Robinhood Securities has received approval to act as an underwriter.
According to Tenev, since IPO Access launched in 2021, retail investors have shifted from being an afterthought to becoming an essential part of how companies plan their IPOs. He notes that the focus has moved from questioning retail participation to considering the size of retail allocations.
Tenev recently announced that Robinhood completed the acquisition of WonderFi, enabling its entry into Canada's crypto market through Robinhood Canada. Earlier this year, he highlighted the launch-day performance of the TrumpAccounts app, which reached number one in finance in the App Store as detailed in his comments. The latest approval for Robinhood Securities expands the firm's role in the IPO process.
