Interactive Brokers has announced the addition of global contracts for difference (CFDs) to its suite of investment options for Japanese clients. The company's clients will be able to trade leveraged US stocks and ETFs through the broker's Japan division.

Interactive Brokers Securities Japan (IBSJ) clients can now invest in CFDs in addition to global stocks, options, and futures, reports Business Wire

CFDs are OTC derivatives that allow leveraged trading of US stocks and ETFs, greatly expanding trading opportunities for traders and providing greater flexibility in investment strategies.

The broker emphasized that the minimum fee for CFDs on US stocks will be $0.0055 per share, while for trading CFDs on Japanese stocks, traders will have to pay at least 0.033% of the transaction value. For CFDs on Singapore stocks, fees will start at 0.121% of the trade value, and for CFDs on stocks from other countries, including Hong Kong, Europe, and Australia, fees will start at 0.055%.

However, the company clarified that the lower rates are available for all equity CFDs with higher trading volumes.

"We are pleased to introduce CFDs on US and global equities to our Japanese clients. This addition allows them to actively trade leveraged US stocks and ETFs, providing a dynamic tool to enhance their investment strategies and trading potential," said Daniel Kerrigan, CEO of Interactive Brokers Securities Japan Inc.

"With this launch, we are reaffirming our commitment to Japan and helping our clients find investment opportunities locally and internationally through powerful trading technology, competitive pricing, and an extensive global product offering," he added.

Meanwhile, Japanese users can take advantage of IBKR Desktop, a next-generation trading application for Windows and Mac, overnight trading of US stocks and ETFs, fractional share trading, and Interactive Brokers Securities Japan Inc.'s new Japanese and English website.
