Social trading-focused broker eToro has released quarterly data on the most popular stocks on the platform.

The broker noted that the most popular stocks were those related to artificial intelligence, as well as Manchester United due to the impending sale of the club.

According to details from FNG, eToro also examined the companies that saw the biggest proportional change in the number of shareholders and also presented the 10 most popular stocks among investors on the platform.

The list of the most popular stocks includes such major companies as Tesla, Amazon, Apple, Nio, Meta Platforms, Microsoft, Alibaba, Alphabet, NVIDIA, and PayPal. It's also worth noting that at the beginning of the year, Tesla's stock was up 131%, NVIDIA's was up 193%, and Meta's was up 76%.

Among the fastest-growing artificial intelligence-related companies were C3.ai (user count up 96% YTD) and Koninklijke Philips (up 69%).

Also, demand for Manchester United shares surged in the second quarter, driving the stock price up 21% as investors looked to capitalize on the club's pending sale.

"Retail investors have been in pole position for the dramatic big tech rally this year, and frankly, ahead of most institutional investors," said eToro analyst Ben Laidler.
