Broker Deriv (Binary.com) is contributing to the advancement of climate science and supporting the environmental research of the Kahuna expedition in Patagonia.

As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations, Deriv, licensed by trusted international regulators, has launched initiatives to make a lasting impact on environmental conservation, MyFxBook reported.

A key part of these efforts is Deriv's sponsorship of the Kahuna Team, which recently embarked on an important research expedition to Patagonia to study environmental pollutants such as microplastics and black carbon in the snow.

The research project, in collaboration with the Argentine Institute of Nivology, Glaciology, and Environmental Sciences, aims to provide new insights into how pollutants trigger climate change. The expedition also has a strong educational component, collaborating with organizations such as OSER and CheerUp to engage and educate students and young patients about environmental issues.

Seema Hallon, Chief Human Resources Officer at Deriv, emphasized the importance of this milestone: "The 25th anniversary is an opportunity for Deriv to refocus on what is important to us as an organization. By investing our CSR efforts in meaningful projects like the Kahuna expedition, we are contributing to efforts to create a sustainable future for the planet and communities."

The expedition team of Baptistin Coutance, Robin Villard, Thomas Jarrey, Vincent Lavrov, and Yvan Lazard began their journey in mid-January in Puerto Murta, Chile. Their route took them through Lago General Carrera, across the Rio Baquer to the Pacific fjords, along the continent of Campo de Helo, to Volcan Lautaro and Cerro Francisco Moreno. Although the expedition was cut short by bad weather, it was considered a success.

Team member Robin Villard said: "The samples collected during the expedition are in good condition and will be analyzed in May and July. By the end of the summer, we should have results on the presence of microplastics in the underwater ice field."

The results of this expedition are very important as they will provide valuable data for the global understanding of the effects of climate change, in particular how microplastics spread and settle in remote, seemingly pristine environments.

With this initiative, Deriv reaffirms its commitment to sustainability and responsible corporate behavior as it celebrates its 25th anniversary, with a focus on future generations and the health of the planet.
