Empowering students with real trading simulations
The IBKR Student Trading Lab serves as an invaluable resource for finance, economics, and computer science educators. The program provides students with paper trading accounts, allowing them to simulate real market conditions with a virtual capital of $1,000,000. This hands-on approach enables students to understand market dynamics, develop trading strategies, and analyze financial data in a risk-free environment.
After registration, educators can invite students to participate, managing their accounts through the Client Portal, where they can monitor activity, reset account balances, and track portfolio performance. Additionally, students gain access to PortfolioAnalyst, an advanced tool that helps them assess risk, measure performance against benchmarks, and refine their trading methods using detailed reports and analytics.
Expanding access to financial education
The IBKR Student Trading Lab is free and open to high schools and universities worldwide. Currently, more than 600 educational institutions across 60 countries participate in the program, including some of the world's top financial engineering schools. The program grants access to a broad range of financial instruments, including stocks, options, futures, bonds, and currencies, across both U.S. and international markets.
To further support educators, Interactive Brokers provides comprehensive educational materials, including resources from Traders’ Academy, IBKR webinars, and the IBKR Quant Blog. These materials help instructors integrate market analysis, investment strategies, and trading concepts into their lesson plans.
