OANDA warned about FX Tokyo MT4 server shutdown Forex-oj5k
OANDA Securities has announced that the "Forex-oj5k" group, available on the FX Tokyo Server MT4 Standard Plan, will be discontinued on December 13, 2024. In light of this, OANDA strongly advises all traders using the "oj5k" group to switch to the "oj1m" group as soon as possible. This move aims to optimize services and ensure uninterrupted trading for users.
Although the "oj5k" group will no longer be supported, OANDA has assured clients that there will be no difference in rate distribution or spreads between the "oj5k" and "oj1m" groups. This guarantees that users transitioning to the new group will not experience any discrepancies in pricing or performance.
For clients using automated trading systems or Expert Advisors (EAs) in the "oj5k" group, OANDA has provided specific instructions for transitioning to the "oj1m" group. Clients are advised to update their charts to reflect the "oj1m" group, which can be done by selecting a currency pair with "oj1m" in the "Quotes" section of the MT4 platform.
Steps to update the chart:
- Identify the currently displayed currency pair, shown in the upper left corner of the chart. If it ends with "oj5k," it needs to be updated.
- To update the chart, click on "View" > "Quotes" in the MT4 platform's menu. This will display all available currency pairs on the left side of the chart.
- Drag and drop the currency pair with "oj1m" onto the chart to switch it.
- If the desired "oj1m" pair is not displayed, right-click on the visible currency pair and select "Show All" to view all available pairs.
OANDA confirmed that while the "oj5k" and "oj1m" pairs have identical spreads and rate information, the "oj3m" group has wider spreads and is designed for larger trade volumes, ranging from 10,000 to 3,000,000 currency units. In contrast, the "oj1m" group is suitable for trades between 10,000 and 1,000,000 currency units. OANDA recommends that traders with smaller positions, particularly those under 1,000,000 yen, use the "oj1m" group.
Service discontinuation schedule:
- October 18, 2024: New orders will no longer be accepted for the "oj5k" group.
- December 13, 2024: Full discontinuation of the "oj5k" service at 3:00 p.m. Traders must close their positions in the "oj5k" group by 3:00 p.m. on December 13, 2024. Any positions left open after this time will be forcibly settled.
