Axie Infinity creators unveil trailer for their new game

Axie Infinity creators unveil trailer for their new game New Web3 game

NFT project Axie Infinity has released a trailer for its upcoming MMO game, Atia’s Legacy, set in the Axie universe.

On November 25, developer Sky Mavis announced plans to launch a new game within the Axie Infinity universe. The announcement came amid staff layoffs, which allowed the company to reallocate resources to several projects planned for 2025. Sky Mavis co-founder and CEO Trung Nguyen confirmed that one of these projects would be a “new Axie game.”

On March 6, Sky Mavis released the official trailer, offering a first look at Atia’s Legacy. According to the developers, the game will serve as the “next chapter” in the Axie universe. The team also emphasized that Axie Infinity continues to empower players with true ownership of their digital assets.

The trailer showcases significant improvements over earlier iterations of Axie Infinity. In addition to 2D turn-based battles, the new game will introduce 3D combat, mini-games (such as puzzles and fishing), and even a farming simulator.

Sky Mavis highlighted that Atia’s Legacy incorporates the seven years of experience the team has gained in developing Web3 games. If everything goes as planned, the studio will open testing for players to try the game in 2025.

How to attract players?

To bring in more players, Sky Mavis has launched a referral program. Players who successfully invite their friends will receive Axie Infinity’s native tokens (AXS) as rewards. The number of tokens will increase as more players join the game.

Developers also revealed that they plan to release a minimum viable product (MVP) featuring key mechanics such as squad-based combat, character progression, PvE mode, resource gathering, crafting, and social interactions. However, no specific release date has been announced yet.

Beyond Sky Mavis, Gunzilla Games released a major update on February 28 for one of the maps in its blockchain shooter, Off The Grid. The update introduced gameplay improvements, including jetpack upgrades and rotational aim assist.

Notably, the 2024 GAM3 Awards, held for the first time in Manila on November 22, named Off The Grid as the Game of the Year.
