Cryptocurrency dominates Formula 1: Crypto.com, Coinbase, Binance and more among 2025 season sponsors

Cryptocurrency dominates Formula 1: Crypto.com, Coinbase, Binance and more among 2025 season sponsors Only two teams do not have crypto sponsors

On March 14, the 2025 Formula 1 season will begin in Melbourne, with most teams now backed by crypto sponsors.

Crypto.com has the strongest presence in Formula 1, ranking among eleven global partners of Formula One Group, alongside Qatar Airways, DHL, Salesforce, Lenovo, and LVMH.

Another exchange, Gate.io, now sponsors Red Bull Racing, following the team’s split with Bybit.

The largest U.S. crypto exchange, Coinbase, recently signed a sponsorship deal with Aston Martin—a milestone agreement as it was the first fully settled in USDC.

Meanwhile, Kraken, the second-largest U.S. exchange, is a key sponsor of Atlassian Williams Racing, and OKX continues its partnership with McLaren, the 2024 season champions, as one of the team’s three main sponsors, alongside Mastercard and Google.

Big names matter in F1 sponsorship

Alpine and Kick Sauber each have two crypto sponsors. Alpine is backed by Binance, the world’s largest exchange, and ApeCoin, a cryptocurrency developed by Yuga Labs, creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club NFT collection.

Kick Sauber is sponsored by Stake, a crypto-focused sports betting company, and CoinPayments, the owner of Alchemy Pay.

Racing Bull has partnered with Cash App, a U.S. payment company owned by Square, which also processes crypto payments. Meanwhile, MoneyGram, which has integrated stablecoin payments, is the title sponsor of Haas.

Mercedes and Ferrari stay away from crypto deals

According to Crypto.news, Mercedes and Ferrari are the only two teams without crypto sponsorships—mainly due to past negative experiences.

Mercedes is still recovering from its ties with FTX, while Ferrari’s last crypto sponsor, blockchain firm Velas, saw its token’s market cap collapse from over $1.2 billion in 2022 to just $13 million.

The 2025 Formula 1 season could see a boost in viewership, as Ferrari, Red Bull, McLaren, and Mercedes battle it out one last time before major regulation changes in 2026.

As we wrote, Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team has inked a multi-year deal with Coinbase, marking a first in motorsports by transacting the entire agreement in USDC.
