Tonhub introduces Visa debit card for direct payments in TON and USDT

Tonhub introduces Visa debit card for direct payments in TON and USDT Tonhub Visa eases cross-border payments without conversion fees

Tonhub, a well-known cryptocurrency wallet for The Open Network (TON), has introduced a new Visa debit card that allows users to make direct payments in Toncoin (TON) and Tether (USDT) with a 1.5% transaction fee.

This development is part of Tonhub's broader strategy to increase the accessibility and practicality of cryptocurrency payments for everyday transactions, especially as demand grows for crypto solutions that offer both convenience and stability in payment options.

Benefits and features of the Tonhub Visa card

The Tonhub Visa card, supported by Visa’s extensive global payment network, enables users to make purchases in Toncoin and USDT without the need for prior conversion to fiat currency. This approach ensures a seamless payment experience for cryptocurrency holders, bridging the gap between the digital asset market and traditional payment systems. The card is designed to allow users to easily spend their crypto assets for both online and in-store purchases worldwide.

For ease of use, the Tonhub Visa card is integrated with the Tonhub wallet, allowing users to manage their funds, make direct payments, and access spending history in one place. As part of its initial rollout, the card also offers the advantage of simplifying cross-border transactions without the typical exchange fees that are often charged for foreign currency payments. This feature is especially important for frequent travelers and those looking to use their crypto assets abroad, where such fees are traditionally an issue.

Positive reception and outlook for innovation in crypto payments

Tonhub's announcement was well-received by the TON community, which is actively exploring new use cases for Toncoin. The initiative is also part of a larger movement in the crypto industry to expand the use of stablecoins like USDT, as they offer a less volatile alternative to traditional cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin. Since USDT's value is pegged to the US dollar, users can avoid price fluctuations typically associated with cryptocurrency, making the card suitable for everyday transactions.

Currently, the Visa debit card is available to EU users, with Tonhub preparing to expand access by 2025.

It’s worth noting that Tonhub’s Visa debit card could pave the way for similar innovations in the crypto space. As more wallet providers and payment networks experiment with crypto-related payment solutions, the industry may see broader adoption of digital assets for daily purchases. The Tonhub card represents a step toward a future where cryptocurrencies can be seamlessly integrated into consumers' daily lives.

Previously, we reported that the number of users on the TON blockchain surpassed 100 million.
