Cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex has launched a P2P platform in Latin America, targeting residents of Argentina, Colombia, and Venezuela.

The decision to launch the platform comes as part of a program to increase access to financial services related to digital assets in Latin America.

"We are delighted to announce the launch of Bitfinex P2P in Venezuela, Argentina, and Colombia," said Paolo Ardoino, CTO of Bitfinex.

Bitfinex P2P will allow users in Latin America to buy and sell Bitcoins (BTC), Tether tokens (USDt and EURt), Tether Gold (XAUt), and Ether (ETH), according to the Bitfinex website.

In addition, platform users will be able to exchange one digital token for another.

"By offering a reliable and efficient platform for P2P token trading, we are empowering our clients to engage with the marketplace in a way that affords maximum convenience based on their needs and preferences," Ardoino added.

A mobile version of Bitfinex P2P is expected to be released later this year and will include additional features to enrich the client experience.

We previously reported that Bitfinex and Tether have awarded a grant to support the open-source Qubes OS privacy operating system.

Bitfinex began operations in 2012 and is one of the oldest crypto exchanges in the world. Bitfinex offers its clients a convenient and functional trading platform with the ability to create customized orders. The exchange offers several passive income options.
