ParaSwap changes name to Velora amid new feature launch

ParaSwap, a leading decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator, has officially rebranded to Velora and introduced a significant platform upgrade—Delta v2.5—designed to enhance the flexibility and efficiency of trade execution.
The update is part of Velora’s strategic pivot toward intent-based trading, a system it began developing in mid-2024 to address the persistent challenge of maximum extractable value (MEV) exploitation in DeFi, reports Cointelegraph.
Velora’s Delta v2.5 introduces customizable execution options for users, including advanced features like limit orders and cross-chain trade functionality. The platform’s new approach is designed to grant users more control while mitigating MEV-related risks, a key concern in blockchain-based financial systems. The system processes trades in three phases: defining the expected price, conducting an auction to determine optimal execution strategies, and finally executing trades via professional agents that respect user-defined preferences.
Tackling MEV and Simplifying DeFi
MEV bots—automated programs that capitalize on transaction ordering for profit—have long posed challenges for decentralized finance, often undermining fairness and increasing costs for ordinary users. Velora’s founder, Mounir Benchemled, said the new framework aims to protect users from such threats, calling MEV “one of the most pressing issues that needs addressing” in the DeFi space.
The platform reports 18,000 monthly active users and over 4.3 million smart contract interactions in the past year, according to TokenTerminal data. By upgrading to an intents-based model, Velora aligns with a broader industry trend toward abstracting complexity for end users.
Industry Leaders Support Intents-Based Approach
“End users shouldn’t have to worry about the complexities of DeFi,” said Sergej Kunz, co-founder of rival DEX aggregator 1inch. He added that intent-based systems shift execution risk to specialized bots, reducing user burden while offering institutional-grade efficiency and MEV protection.
As Velora pushes forward with its new identity and technical roadmap, the update signals a growing movement among DeFi platforms to prioritize user experience, execution transparency, and system-wide integrity.
