Bitget strengthens global crypto strategy with El Salvador license

Bitget strengthens global crypto strategy with El Salvador license Bitget El Salvador license

Cryptocurrency exchange Bitget has secured a digital asset service provider license from El Salvador’s National Commission of Digital Assets, marking a significant step in the company’s global expansion strategy.

The approval follows Bitget’s earlier acquisition of a Bitcoin services provider license in the first quarter of 2024, according to Crypto News.

With both licenses in hand, Bitget is now authorized to offer a broader suite of crypto services in the Central American nation. These include spot and derivatives trading, staking, and other yield-focused products—expanding its operational reach in a jurisdiction that has emerged as a regulatory trailblazer in the digital asset space.

El Salvador’s crypto-forward approach draws global players

El Salvador, which became the first country to adopt Bitcoin as legal tender in 2021, continues to position itself as a destination for blockchain innovation. The country’s clear regulatory frameworks and favorable stance toward digital assets have attracted a growing number of web3 firms.

Hon Ng, Bitget’s chief legal officer, highlighted the strategic importance of the move: “El Salvador is ahead of many with its progressive and transparent approach to Bitcoin and digital asset regulation, making it an attractive jurisdiction for good quality web3 companies aiming to operate responsibly at scale.”

Bitget’s announcement aligns with a broader industry trend. Earlier this year, stablecoin issuer Tether relocated its corporate entity and subsidiaries to El Salvador after receiving a similar digital asset license.

As regulatory uncertainty continues to challenge crypto firms in larger markets, El Salvador’s open-arms approach may signal a shift in how jurisdictions compete to attract digital finance pioneers. Bitget’s entry reinforces the country’s growing relevance as a global crypto hub.

Meanwhile, Bitget, one of the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, has announced its official sponsorship of professional driver Flávio Sampaio for the 2025 Porsche Cup Brasil.
