Uniswap Labs launches $15.5M Bug Bounty for v4 core smart contracts

Uniswap Labs Ventures, the developer behind the decentralized protocol for cryptocurrency trading, Uniswap, has announced a bug bounty program for the core contracts of its v4 platform.
Uniswap Labs promises to allocate up to $15.5 million to anyone who discovers a critical vulnerability in the v4 core contracts, calling it “the largest bug bounty in history.”
In an additional statement, the company clarified that “the program covers vulnerabilities and bugs in any deployed Uniswap contract and the main branch of specified undeployed v4-core contracts.” Bugs found outside these repositories are also eligible for rewards under the program, though they will be compensated under a different code.
White hat awards
Bug bounty programs, which attract ethical hackers to identify potential vulnerabilities in cryptographic systems, are among the most effective methods of ensuring security.
According to The Block, as of June this year, the web3 security platform Immunefi has paid over $100 million to ethical hackers. Notably, the largest payout for a single bug was around $15 million, making Uniswap Labs’ program the largest in the space.
In 2024, the cryptocurrency industry suffered losses of $1.4 billion due to hacks and fraud. While the number of incidents remains high, there is a trend towards a reduction in these occurrences.
