The 2024 GAM3 Awards, hosted for the first time in Manila on November 22, crowned Off The Grid as the Game of the Year. Developed by Gunzilla Games, this Web3-enabled, free-to-play, third-person battle royale also took home awards for Best Shooter Game, Best Multiplayer Game, and Best Action Game, solidifying its place as a landmark achievement in blockchain gaming.
The event, organized in partnership with Yield Guild Games (YGG), celebrated advancements in Web3 gaming across 21 categories, CryptoSlate reports. This year’s awards featured an impressive $5 million prize pool, which included grants, blockchain services, and marketing support from industry leaders like AWS, XAI, Thirdweb, Aethir, and Community Gaming.
A robust selection process
More than 70 experts from renowned gaming and blockchain organizations, including representatives from CryptoSlate, Ubisoft, Google, Amazon, Animoca Brands, Immutable, and the Blockchain Game Alliance, evaluated the participants of the 2024 GAM3 Awards. However, the community's opinion played a decisive role: over one million votes contributed to determining the top nominees, highlighting the growing engagement in the Web3 gaming ecosystem.
Off The Grid’s impact
Set in a dystopian cyberpunk future on Teardrop Island, Off The Grid leverages blockchain technology through the GUNZ blockchain on an Avalanche subnet. The game’s innovative player-driven economy enables trading of in-game assets, offering players more control over their gaming experience.
Off The Grid’s early access launch was met with overwhelming success, topping Epic Games’ free-to-play PC charts and outpacing major titles like Fortnite and Rocket League. Within its first five days, the game added over one million wallets daily, totaling 53 million transactions—a remarkable feat for any Web3 game.

The GAM3 Awards also recognized other standout games. Parallel claimed accolades for Best Strategy Game, Best Card Game, and Best Esports Game. Pixels and Pirate Nation each won multiple awards, showcasing the diversity of creativity within the Web3 gaming sphere.
The ceremony was attended by over 300 guests and featured premieres of upcoming games, including Golden Tides, Elumia, and Shrapnel. The event garnered 450,000 views online within the first 24 hours.
