Cetus offers $5M to hacker after $223M DEX exploit

A day after the high-profile exploit of the Cetus DEX using fake tokens, the platform’s founders offered the hacker a $5 million white-hat deal, while also warning of legal consequences in case of refusal.
The Sui-based protocol team, with financial support from the Sui Foundation and technical assistance from Inca Digital, has launched a full-scale hunt for the hacker.
“We have not received any communication from the hacker. We urge them to sincerely consider our offer,” Cetus wrote on their official X account.

A $5 million bounty has been announced for information leading to the identification and arrest of the hacker or any involved group.
Exploit and consequences
The total impact of the Cetus DEX exploit amounts to $223 million, excluding the losses caused by the price drop of affected tokens.
If the hacker accepts Cetus’ terms, they will need to return over 20,920 Ethereum withdrawn from the platform via Sui. An additional $162 million in stolen assets were frozen in time and not accessed by the attacker.
As we wrote earlier, Fake token exploit crashes CETUS 40%.
