Scaramucci skeptical of DOGE success and Musk-Ramaswamy budget cut plan

Anthony Scaramucci, former White House Communications Director and founder of SkyBridge Capital, has expressed skepticism over the ambitious $2 trillion government spending reduction plan proposed by Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy. Speaking in an interview with journalist Elizabeth Vargas, Scaramucci cast doubt on the feasibility of their policies, calling the budget-cut goals overly optimistic and difficult to implement.
Musk and Ramaswamy’s proposal focuses on aggressive reforms to shrink government expenditures by $2 trillion annually. While the plan has garnered attention for its bold targets, Scaramucci highlighted structural and political challenges, arguing that achieving such massive cuts would face significant resistance in Washington.

Skepticism over DOGE and broader vision
In addition to his concerns about the budget plan, Scaramucci also questioned the viability of the D.O.G.E. department. Despite its active support of Musk, Scaramucci was not convinced that the entity had long-term prospects for success.
Scaramucci's remarks reflect his broader criticism of initiatives that he sees as based on speculative enthusiasm rather than a tangible framework. In his view, both the Musk-Ramaswamy fiscal proposal and the success of D.O.G.E. may face obstacles rooted in economic and political realities.
Scaramucci said it would be wrong to treat government as a business or a commercial enterprise.
“Government exists to protect people, smooth economic cycles and provide a safety net,” he said.
Separately, Scaramucci stressed the importance of preserving programs that ensure fairness and equal opportunity for Americans.
