Ripple launches XRP-based grant program for Japanese startups

Ripple launches XRP-based grant program for Japanese startups Japanese fintechs to receive up to $200K from Ripple's XRPL fund

In 2025, Ripple aims to secure a license to enable XRP for banking payments in Japan. In preparation, the U.S.-based company has announced a grant program targeting Japanese startups developing applications on the XRP Ledger.

The program is part of the XRPL Japan and Korea Fund and aligns with a broader strategy to allocate 1 billion XRP to support projects in key markets.

In Japan, Ripple will partner with local organization Web3 Salon, led by Asia Web3 Alliance Japan and supported by the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

Big ambitions in the Japanese market

Individual startups can apply for grants of up to $200,000 over the next 12 months, focusing on developing products related to decentralized finance (DeFi), real-world asset tokenization, and digital payment solutions.

Selection criteria will prioritize growth potential, technical merit, and strategic alignment with Ripple’s goals. In addition to funding, selected startups will gain access to Ripple’s international network of business partners, developers, and institutional users.

The partnership with Web3 Salon will offer training sessions, personalized mentorship, and connections with regulators and investment funds. The aim is to build a collaborative platform linking developers with Japan’s financial system.

From June 2025 to March 2026, the alliance plans to host four in-person events across Japan, featuring pitch competitions, regulatory and technology panels, compliance workshops, and investor networking rounds. The goal is to create an environment where new crypto ventures can access capital, education, and institutional partnerships in Japan’s traditionally conservative market.
