Crypto trader James Wynn sparks rival wave of high-risk trades

The rise in popularity of crypto trader James Wynn highlights a new kind of hero — someone with specialized knowledge and intuition, capable of making and calmly losing multi-million dollar fortunes in the volatile crypto market.
Currently, crypto media is abuzz with other figures who seem eager to compete with Wynn for attention and acclaim. After Wynn’s $25 million long Bitcoin position was force-liquidated last week — resulting in a personal loss of about $1 million — anonymous traders made additional high-risk bets, sparking active community discussion.
Rumors circulated that Wynn, using another wallet, had transferred $29.85 million in margin from Bybit to Hyperliquid and opened another 20x-leveraged BTC long position. However, Lookonchain identified the mysterious wallet 0x1f25 as belonging to @AguilaTrades, an anonymous trader claiming a decade of experience.

“Currently down over $5.5 million, he just doubled his BTC long as prices dipped again,” Lookonchain reported.
Hyperliquid: A school of crypto idols
According to Cryptopolitan, another Hyperliquid trader chasing Wynn's fame is Andrew Tate. On June 8, Tate posted about opening a $100 million BTC long position on Hyperliquid, captioning it: “$100M BTC long. My turn?” The post was later deleted, leading many to believe it was a publicity stunt to attract media attention and emulate Wynn’s notoriety.
To some extent, it worked. Tate’s persona began attracting media attention, especially after he revealed a 25x ETH long that gained 138.5% — only to be swiftly liquidated, costing him hundreds of thousands of dollars and prompting him to delete the post.

Analytics show that Tate is far from a consistent winner. Since starting on Hyperliquid in 2024, he has made 76 trades, only 27 of which were profitable — a win rate of 35.53%, with a total net loss of $583,000.
Still, like James Wynn, Tate remains optimistic and determined to make a comeback — possibly becoming a new idol for aspiring crypto traders.
