KuCoin enters Thai market with its own exchange

KuCoin enters Thai market with its own exchange KuCoin launches regulated crypto exchange in Thailand

KuCoin has launched its first locally regulated digital asset exchange in Thailand, marking a significant milestone in the company’s global expansion.

Known as KuCoin Thailand, the platform is now publicly accessible to eligible Thai users after completing an invite-only pilot phase, reports Crypto News.

The exchange operates under full regulatory approval from Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), offering both crypto-to-crypto trading and integration with fiat currency services, including Thai Baht on- and off-ramps. This launch underscores KuCoin’s commitment to navigating local compliance landscapes while tapping into fast-growing regional markets.

Rebranded from ERX to KuCoin Thailand

The platform’s debut follows the rebranding of ERX Company Limited—Thailand’s first SEC-licensed exchange—to KuCoin Thailand, which officially took effect on April 22. The transition was publicly confirmed on April 23 and involved migrating all ERX user accounts and rolling out the new KuCoin TH app for both Android and iOS devices.

The move positions KuCoin to compete in a tightly regulated but increasingly vibrant crypto market, where it joins eight other licensed platforms including Bitkub, Gulf Binance, and Upbit. Despite recent regulatory crackdowns, Thailand remains one of Southeast Asia’s most active crypto trading hubs, supported by a relatively progressive digital asset policy framework.

Thailand launch may signal wider regulatory ambitions

KuCoin’s move into Thailand aligns with a broader push for compliance and legitimacy in international markets. The company has already submitted an application for a Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license in Austria, aiming to gain a regulatory foothold across the European Union.

By securing government approvals in key regions like Southeast Asia and Europe, KuCoin seeks to establish itself as a trusted global player in digital finance. As the Thai exchange goes live, industry observers will be watching closely to see if KuCoin’s regulated approach translates into long-term market traction and sets the stage for further geographic diversification.
