New James Wynn loses $18M in week

High-risk trader AguilaTrades, dubbed the “Second James Wynn” for mirroring the notorious crypto whale’s ultra-leveraged strategies, just suffered a stunning $18.05 million loss in one week.
His long Bitcoin (BTC) position — once worth over $4.2 billion — has been reduced under pressure from multiple market pullbacks.
Ember’s on-chain tracking shows that yesterday’s $10 million unrealized profit has flipped into a $1.51 million loss. At the moment, AguilaTrades holds a 20x leveraged long on 3,317 BTC, entered at $106,014, now worth $350 million, with a liquidation price at $99,878. Just one poorly timed dip could erase the remainder of the position — now down to only $57,000 in equity.
Repeat Pattern of Risky Moves
This isn’t AguilaTrades’ first brush with disaster. Only a day earlier, he entered a $4.34 million BTC long — which he had to close after another sudden drop, losing $1.248 million. His attempt to scale up and “double down” by pushing to a $4 billion exposure in the morning saw BTC reverse again, forcing another hasty reduction to $3.5 billion. These back-to-back hits mimic the trading history of James Wynn, the pseudonymous trader known for turning $7,000 into $87 million via meme coins like PEPE — only to lose massive amounts due to extreme leverage and market timing fails.
Legendary Trader, Legendary Volatility
James Wynn, who has made and lost fortunes on decentralized exchange HyperLiquid, remains one of the most visible and controversial figures in crypto. Famous for 40× leverage plays and massive bets on volatile tokens like BTC, MOONPIG, and PEPE, Wynn’s trades are often so massive that they become market-moving events.
His wallet is closely watched, his opinions viral, and his losses — including over $100 million in liquidations — are part of his mythos. Like Wynn, AguilaTrades’ rise and fall is a testament to the brutal highs and lows of leveraged trading, where fortunes are made — and lost — in hours.
Recently we wrote that the rise in popularity of crypto trader James Wynn highlights a new kind of hero — someone with specialized knowledge and intuition, capable of making and calmly losing multi-million dollar fortunes in the volatile crypto market.
