Kazakhstan and Solana partner on Web3 special zone

The Solana Foundation announced a Memorandum of Understanding with Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace (MDAI) to establish a special blockchain economic zone.
Kazakhstan’s recent digital transformation pilot initiatives attracted Solana’s attention—now formalized through this partnership to incubate blockchain startups, attract international crypto firms, and advance tokenized finance pilots. Additionally, the initiative includes a national blockchain education program to bolster the Web3 workforce.
“The partnership will support tokenized capital markets, education for crypto developers, and resources for Solana-based startups in the region,” announced the Solana Foundation on X .

Shared vision and ambition
Kazakhstan’s initiatives reflect its ambitions to modernize its digital economy, while Solana seeks to reposition itself beyond meme coins toward institutional adoption.
The SEZ KZ project is modeled after the Dubai DMCC Crypto Centre but features a Web3-first structure, integrating infrastructure access, regulatory support, and enterprise incubation. The geographic proximity of founding team members positions Solana to expand into neighboring Asian markets.
