Ubisoft integrates ENS for decentralized gamer identity in Captain Laserhawk

Ubisoft integrates ENS for decentralized gamer identity in Captain Laserhawk Ubisoft introduces Niji Warrior ID Cards for gamers, powered by ENS

Video game developer Ubisoft, whose shares are listed on the Paris Stock Exchange, has announced the release of its first gamer identity cards, linking players to their owned in-game characters.

The unique gaming identifiers, Niji Warrior ID, developed in collaboration with ENS (Ethereum Name Service), will use ENS subdomains, such as "edenonline.eth," to link a player’s character to their blockchain address.

Traditionally, gamers use names or tags for identification. Ubisoft and ENS’s solution will allow players to create a unique identity tied to their owned Web3 assets. These blockchain-tracked assets can be transferred or sold to other users if needed.

New opportunities in the Captain Laserhawk Universe

Louis Garoche, Ubisoft’s blockchain technical director, explained: "ENS is a pioneer in interoperability and is paving the way to make decentralization and Web3 accessible to everyone. Integrating ENS into our projects has always been a natural choice, and we are proud to offer an innovative approach to decentralized identification."

The first 10,000 Niji Warrior ID cards, released by Ubisoft, will be used in the Captain Laserhawk Universe game.

For ENS, creating identifiers for Ubisoft marks its debut in the gaming industry, with more such examples expected in the future.

French gaming giant Ubisoft, in collaboration with the Arbitrum Foundation, has announced the launch of Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., a Web3-enabled top-down shooter, set for Dec. 18.
