Will Trump Media Buy Bitcoin?
The board of directors of Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) has approved a buyback of up to $400 million in common stock or warrants, citing the company’s strong financial position.
TMTG CEO and chairman Devin Nunes announced that the board has issued a vote of confidence in the company’s shares, strategic plans, and approximately $3 billion in cash reserves. The timing and scale of the repurchase will be determined at the company’s discretion in accordance with applicable U.S. SEC regulations.
Nunes added that with $3 billion available, the company has the flexibility to deliver strong shareholder returns while exploring new opportunities. This financial activity is aimed at supporting the capital required for expansion and strategic growth.
According to Trump Media, the buyback authorization will be funded separately from the previously announced Bitcoin treasury strategy. That strategy included a $2.3 billion private placement, with $1.5 billion of Bitcoin holdings in equity and about $1 billion in convertible bonds, with Anchorage Digital and Crypto.com handling custody.

MTG advisor David Bailey emphasized that the company’s focus is on increasing its bitcoin-per-share ratio but did not confirm any immediate Bitcoin purchases.
The company reaffirmed its financial capacity to support this strategy and indicated that further steps may be taken in the future, including a potential buyback of convertible bonds. Trump Media previously clarified that all buybacks are independently financed and won’t interfere with each other.
