FTX hackers convert stolen ETH to BTC

The FTX cryptocurrency exchange is back in the news after the hackers who breached it converted some of the stolen ETH into BTC.
During the conversion, which took place on the decentralized platform THORChain, the attackers exchanged 15,000 ETH worth about $24.75 million, crypto reporter Colin Wu wrote on his X (Twitter) page.

The move indicates not only the scale of the hack but also a targeted and planned approach by the hackers, making tracking and recovery increasingly difficult, according to the Crypto News Land website.
A law enforcement and cybersecurity investigation into the hackers, which began on September 30, revealed the transfer of 60,000 ETH using four different addresses, demonstrating their intent to cover their tracks and spread the risk. In addition, the hackers who compromised FTX have now distributed the stolen funds to nine addresses, totaling 125,735 ETH.
Despite the fact that transactions involving stolen assets are under constant surveillance, the hackers' actions indicate a high level of professionalism and understanding of the crypto sector.
