Talos invests $100M+ to integrate Coin Metrics into platform Talos to acquire Coin Metrics, solving institutional crypto data gaps

Crypto trading infrastructure provider Talos has announced plans to acquire Coin Metrics, a Boston-based blockchain analytics and market data firm known for delivering high-integrity metrics to financial institutions.

According to Cryptonews, the goal of the merger is to solve a major institutional barrier in crypto: unreliable and fragmented market intelligence, and to create a crypto data platform on par with the Bloomberg Terminal.

As part of the acquisition, Coin Metrics’ network data, risk models, and index products will be directly integrated into Talos’s existing trading and portfolio management systems—effectively combining data infrastructure with execution rails on a single platform.

Although the deal's terms remain undisclosed, Fortune reports the transaction exceeds $100 million, making it the largest acquisition in Talos’s history.

"By combining our platforms, we’re creating a fully integrated, all-in-one solution that benefits clients of both companies. Institutional investors increasingly rely on us for full life-cycle support across digital assets—from trading and portfolio management to market data, on-chain analytics, and portfolio construction," said Talos CEO Anton Katz.

He added that the merger will deliver a robust platform that significantly boosts client efficiency.

Crypto needs infrastructure reinvention

Unlike traditional financial markets—where asset managers operate in an environment backed by decades of standardized data, audited flows, and transparent pricing—crypto remains a patchwork of fragmented exchanges, opaque on-chain activity, and inconsistent indicators.

The Talos acquisition of Coin Metrics is thus viewed as an effort to rebuild crypto infrastructure with institutional-grade transparency.
