Prajit Tiwana, Gemini's CTO, is stepping down from his position, adding to the cryptocurrency exchange's woes.

Tiwana, who is also the CEO of Gemini APAC, the crypto exchange's Asian arm, is set to leave the company this month.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Tiwana joined Gemini in January 2022. Prior to that, he spent more than six years at Amazon Web Services as a General Manager.

According to Bloomberg, he played a key role in revamping Gemini's culture to make it more like Amazon's. At Gemini, Tiwana oversaw many key areas including product development, engineering and design. He was also responsible for building and growing the cryptocurrency exchange's operations in India, reflecting Gemini's strategic plan for global expansion.

It is worth noting that Gemini has faced many challenges recently, including legal standoffs with crypto lender Genesis and its parent company Digital Currency Group, as well as increased scrutiny from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

Gemini is also facing a lawsuit from the New York Attorney General's office, which accuses the exchange and DCG of misleading clients by allegedly raising $1.1 billion in funds.
