Sonic schedules February 10 mainnet launch after successful TGE event
Sonics current market capitalization is $409 million.
Sonic, a gaming virtual machine (SVM) built on Solana, aims to sustain interest by announcing a Token Generation Event (TGE) and listings on Tier-1 exchanges starting January 7.
According to BeInCrypto, SONIC is now listed on several centralized exchanges, including OKX, Bybit, KuCoin, and MEXC, as well as Solana-based decentralized exchanges (DEXs) like Raydium and Meteora.
Data from CoinMarketCap shows that the highest trading volume after the launch occurred on MEXC, amounting to $84 million at a price below $1.17.
Currently, SONIC has a circulating supply of 360 million tokens, representing 15% of the total supply of 2.4 billion, with a market capitalization of $409 million.
Sonic used the TGE primarily to inform the public about the upcoming mainnet launch, now scheduled for February 10.
Prolonged intrigue
“The launch of the SONIC token will raise awareness of the upcoming network launch and attract more users to its growing ecosystem. Sonic is well-prepared for deploying its mainnet and achieving its goal of enabling access to web3 services,” Sonic stated in a press release.
Sonic does not position itself purely as a gaming company. In September 2024, it launched a testnet and repeatedly promoted the full launch over the following months, but only recently confirmed a specific date.
The mainnet launch will introduce new Sonic features, including a decentralized trading platform (DEX) and a cross-chain AI platform.
