Tron records explosive growth in fees, leading Layer 1s with $1.36 billion revenue

In a landmark achievement, the Tron blockchain has emerged as the leader among Layer 1 networks, generating an impressive $1.36 billion in fees over the past six months.
This milestone reflects the platform's growing adoption and robust ecosystem, with Tron outperforming rivals, including Ethereum, in recent revenue metrics, according to the Cryptopolitan.
According to data from TronScan, the surge in fees underscores heightened activity on the network, driven by the expanding use of decentralized applications (dApps) and smart contract functionality.
The introduction of SunPump, a memecoin trading platform, has played a pivotal role in this success, fueling increased interest in Tron’s native token, TRX. Over the same period, TRX trading volumes surged by 9% to $1.25 billion, indicating rising market confidence.
Memecoins and Stablecoins Fuel Tron's Growth
Tron has established itself as a dominant force in the memecoin and stablecoin markets. Coingecko data shows that the SunPump memecoin generator alone contributed $1.4 million to Tron’s revenues, with hundreds of newly minted tokens such as Sundog and Tron Bull achieving a combined market cap of $152 million.
The blockchain’s prowess extends to stablecoins, where it now commands 38% of the $161.1 billion global market. Tron handled over $108 billion in stablecoin transactions on January 6 alone, with Tether (USDT) transfers dominating the network.
Additionally, the Tron DAO-backed USDD stablecoin, valued at $747 million, has gained traction following its statutory recognition in Dominica.
Tron’s ascent reflects its ability to adapt and innovate in a competitive blockchain landscape. With continued momentum in 2025, it is poised to maintain its lead in the Layer 1 sector while capturing broader market demand in gaming and DeFi.
In 2024, the Tron network achieved $2.12 billion in revenue, a 115% increase from 2023. TRX token purchases contributed $329.57 million, up 115.73% year-over-year, according to TronScan.
