Cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase has announced the launch of a new service that makes it much easier, faster, and cheaper to send money around the world.

"Users can now send money to any platform where they can share a link, including messaging apps like WhatsApp, iMessage, and Telegram, as well as popular social media apps, email and more," Coinbase said in a release note

The main requirement for using the new service is that both the sender and recipient have a Coinbase Wallet.

"With Coinbase Wallet available in 20 languages and more than 170 countries, your money can be received anywhere in the world," Coinbase said.

However, the exchange stressed that if the recipient of the money receives the link and does not have Coinbase Wallet, they will be prompted to download the iOS or Android version. Also, if the funds are not claimed within two weeks, they will automatically be returned to the sender.

It is worth noting that Coinbase continues to expand and strengthen its global presence. This allows more and more people around the world to acquire and use digital assets.

"This is especially important for people in countries with high inflation and limited access to the global financial system," Coinbase said.

The cryptocurrency exchange points out that Coinbase Wallet supports local fiat payments in over 130 countries, including leading payment methods such as Pix in Brazil, Instant P2P Bank in Nigeria, GCash in the Philippines, and many others.

Importantly, newcomers can take advantage of Coinbase Wallet's simplified functionality, which focuses on key features such as buying, sending, receiving, and storing digital assets.

"These updates reflect our commitment to making money transfers easier, cheaper, faster, and borderless. By reducing complexity and fees while expanding global access, we are enabling millions of people to interact with the crypto economy in meaningful ways," Coinbase commented on the launch of the new service.

Coinbase's efforts to increase the utility of its digital wallet and potentially attract new users come at a time when cryptocurrency prices are on the rise.

Recall that on December 5, Bitcoin, the largest digital asset by market capitalization, briefly surpassed the $44,000 mark before falling back to the $43,700 range.
