Rapper Snoop Dogg becomes a Trump supporter after years of criticizing the politician

Rapper Snoop Dogg faced a wave of criticism after headlining Donald Trump's cryptocurrency-themed party, Crypto Ball. The event took place on Friday in Washington, D.C., ahead of the new president’s inauguration and brought together numerous celebrities and politicians.
As reported by the Daily Mail, the purpose of the Crypto Ball was to celebrate Trump’s support for cryptocurrencies and his promise to integrate Bitcoin and digital assets into the U.S. financial system. However, Snoop Dogg’s participation sparked harsh criticism from fans who accused the artist of hypocrisy.
"2Pac was always right when he said Snoop Dogg plays both sides for a check," one user wrote on social media, while others vowed to boycott his music.
Previously, the rapper had been vocal about his opposition to Trump. In 2017, he even released a music video mocking a clown-like character resembling the former president. Now, by joining an event that supports Trump, Snoop Dogg has found himself under fire from fans and the public alike.
After social media was flooded with accusations, Snoop Dogg responded by sharing an Instagram story from fellow performer Rick Ross, adding, "Got a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang." The rapper appeared unfazed by the backlash, cheerfully posing for the camera in sunglasses, flashing a peace sign, and smiling.

Snoop Dogg and cryptocurrencies
Snoop Dogg has long shown interest in cryptocurrencies and digital technologies. He was one of the first prominent artists to endorse Bitcoin back in 2013, offering fans the option to buy his albums with BTC. Since then, his involvement in the crypto industry has only grown.
In 2021, Snoop Dogg became an ambassador for the metaverse platform The Sandbox, where he created his virtual world, Snoopverse, and launched his own NFT collection. He has also participated in promotional campaigns for cryptocurrency companies, including a partnership with the exchange Crypto.com and actively promoting Dogecoin.
Meanwhile, just days before the inauguration, President-elect Donald Trump made waves in the crypto world by launching the meme coin TRUMP.
