Hackers from the Tamagami organization claim to have gained access to an account on the Kodex Global platform, an electronic data request (EDR) tool for various online services such as LinkedIn, Discord, Tinder, and Binance.

Kodex fulfills requests on behalf of law enforcement agencies to obtain data from various cryptocurrency companies and social networks. This was reported by experts from the Hudson Rock platform.

They revealed that Tamagami cybercriminals have infiltrated law enforcement systems with unauthorized access and breached the privacy of user data on many crypto platforms, including Binance and Coinbase, BeInCrypto reported.

If Tamagami gained access to Kodex, it represents a serious threat to the security of user data and calls into question the reliability of cryptocurrency companies' security systems.

Cybersecurity platform HudsonRock reported the hack, highlighting similar infiltrations at Binance and law enforcement agencies in Brazil due to the Infostealer infection. The threat of data loss has also affected major companies such as Coinbase, Chainlink, LinkedIn, Discord, Tinder, SendGrid, Google, TikTok, and Meta.

HudsonRock's investigation revealed that the hackers gained access to the system through compromised computers belonging to unidentified law enforcement officials. Law enforcement credentials were compromised. Civilian police in Brazil, Arkansas police in the US, and other government agencies were affected. Earlier, another attacker attempted to sell credentials from the Binance portal to Kodex Global.

There is growing concern in the crypto community about the potential impact of such data breaches. Attackers have been able to steal identities that could lead to significant financial losses, and this is just the tip of the iceberg.

The amount of data lost is still unknown. Emails, user transactions, phone numbers, and wallet keys are potentially at risk of being exposed.

In response to these claims, Binance said that user accounts are protected with SAFU. Binance reached out to its users via the X network to reassure them: "Our security team has assessed this, as with all potential threats, and confirmed that there is no such leak from Binance's systems."

"Accounts are protected by multiple safeguards, including MFA, biometrics, authenticators, etc.," Binance said.

Binance emphasized that it values all of its users and is grateful to everyone who shares potential bugs and security issues, so that steps can be taken to protect users when necessary.
