Trumps administration nominees disclose over $2 million in crypto assets

Trumps administration nominees disclose over $2 million in crypto assets Trump administration has lots of crypto investors

The crypto community has shown significant support for President Donald Trump, making it unsurprising that many crypto investors are part of his administration.

The nomination approval process requires candidates to disclose their financial information, shedding light on which top officials in the U.S. executive branch are bullish on crypto.

While not all members of the government and the president’s staff have filed public financial disclosure reports, available data reveals that several candidates for key agency leadership positions, including national intelligence, are interested in cryptocurrency.

Sean Duffy

The largest Bitcoin holder among nominees who have filed public financial disclosures is Sean Duffy, Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Transportation and a former U.S. Representative from Wisconsin.

Duffy previously served as an advisor to Robinhood, a trading platform that allows users to buy and sell cryptocurrencies.

According to his disclosures, Duffy owns between $500,000 and $1 million in Bitcoin, as well as $50,000 to $100,000 in the Fidelity Spot Bitcoin ETF.

His crypto wallet also includes holdings in Solana, Litecoin, and Lido Staked Ether, bringing his total crypto assets to between $570,000 and $1.2 million.

Scott Bessent

Trump’s nominee for Treasury Secretary, Scott Bessent, is the founder of the hedge fund Key Square Group. His financial disclosure shows that he holds between $250,000 and $500,000 in BlackRock’s Spot Bitcoin ETF.

However, under an ethics agreement, Bessent plans to divest his Bitcoin assets upon confirmation.

John Ratcliffe

John Ratcliffe, Trump’s pick for Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, does not hold significant crypto assets. However, since October 2023, he has been a member of the advisory board for Paradigm, one of the largest venture capital firms in the crypto sector.

For his role as a consultant, Ratcliffe earned $160,000 and, like Bessent, plans to step down from his position at Paradigm upon confirmation.

Tulsi Gabbard

Former Democratic Congresswoman from Hawaii, Tulsi Gabbard, switched to the Republican Party in 2024 and quickly gained Trump’s favor, becoming his nominee for Director of National Intelligence.

Gabbard’s crypto wallet includes $15,000 to $50,000 in Bitcoin and a similar amount in the Bitwise Spot Bitcoin ETF. She also holds significant amounts in Solana, Cronos, and Ether.

Her total crypto holdings are estimated between $31,000 and $115,000. Like other nominees, she plans to divest her crypto assets upon confirmation.

On January 20, the inauguration of the new U.S. President, Donald Trump, took place. The cryptocurrency industry eagerly awaited this event, as Trump had promised to deliver numerous crypto-related initiatives on his first day in office. However, things didn’t go as planned.
