The world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, Binance, has announced that it will support the Ethereum network upgrade.

The Dencun upgrade will be deployed on the Ethereum core network on March 13, 2024, at approximately 13:55 UTC, during epoch 269568.

The Dencun upgrade to the Ethereum blockchain will reduce fees on Level-2 networks. Dencun was originally scheduled for October 2023, but due to issues on 10 testnets, the upgrade has been pushed back to 2024.

To support the upgrade, Binance will suspend the input and output of Ethereum (ETH), Arbitrum (ARB), Optimism (OP), zkSync Era, Base Protocol (BASE), Manta Network (MANTA), Starknet (STRK), and Polygon (MATIC) tokens starting at 13:25 UTC on March 13, 2024.

The exchange notes that token trading on the aforementioned networks will not be affected.

In addition, deposits and withdrawals of the aforementioned tokens on the networks will resume as soon as the updated network is stable.

Binance assures token holders that it will meet all necessary technical requirements during this period and ensure a smooth transition for all participants.

Earlier, the exchange expanded the list of trading pairs by adding BNB/JPY, BTC/JPY, and ETH/JPY and introduced a zero fee for spot JPY trading pairs. The decision is aimed at attracting new users and providing Binance's existing clients with bigger and better trading opportunities.

In addition, Richard Teng, CEO of Binance, spoke about the achievements of the cryptocurrency exchange after 100 days of his leadership. Teng said that one of the cryptocurrency exchange's main achievements was increasing its customer base to 178 million users and regaining Binance's market share in terms of trading volume.
