Bitrue Exchange Hacked and Lost More Than $20 Million Crypto

Crypto exchange Bitrue reported losing nearly $23 million worth of crypto funds.
The Singapore-based exchange identified the exploit in one of its hot wallets at 7:18 AM UTC, April 14.
According to its latest statement reported on Reuters, the platform assured investors of getting the situation in control and is in the process of investigating the source.
As reported on PeckShieldAlert, Bitrue lost 22.5 billion Shiba Inu (SHIB), 320 Ethereum (ETH), 173,000 Quant (QNT), 46.4 million Gala (GALA), 310,000 Polygon (MATIC), and 756 million Holo (HOT).
Based on current prices, Ethereum is currently trading at $2,115.00, up 6.31% during the day. Shiba Inu is also up 2.25% to $0.00001134 and Polygon (MATIC) is up 4.45% to $1.18.
Meanwhile, Quant (QNT) has taken a heavy toll on the hacking incident and declined 2.04% to $121.70.
The Bitrue management added on a Twitter thread that attackers have successfully withdrawn the assets which are worth less than 5% of its overall funds.
Bitrue suspended withdrawal activities until April 18 due to the unexpected breach. All affected customers will be identified and compensated for their loss, the management assured.
The incident happened at a time when the overall crypto market posted a 3.3% improvement that sent its market capitalization to $1.29 trillion.
