Binance Labs rebrands to YZi Labs, adds AI and biotech focus

The venture arm of the world’s largest crypto exchange, Binance Labs, has announced its rebranding to YZi Labs and its expansion into investments in artificial intelligence (AI) and biotechnology.
According to the company, YZi Labs will be led by Binance Labs co-founder Ella Zhang, renowned for launching Binance Labs’ incubation program and nurturing over 40 startups, including Polygon, Injective Protocol, and Dune Analytics.
As part of the rebranding, YZi Labs will revamp its incubation initiatives with a new 12-week residency program. This program will provide a collaborative environment for founders, fostering creativity and innovation.
YZi Labs assured that existing projects in its portfolio will continue to receive the same level of funding, ensuring a smooth transition.
“While the rebranding signals growth, the company’s core mission to support transformative technologies remains unchanged,” Ella Zhang told.
She added that YZi Labs aims to foster groundbreaking projects in Web3, AI, and biotechnology, identifying potential synergies across these sectors. The firm hopes to drive meaningful innovation by supporting ventures with strong foundations and long-term potential.
A hore hands-on role for CZ
“Rebranding to YZi Labs is more than just a name change—it represents an expanded vision as we broaden our horizons to include transformative sectors such as AI and biotechnology,” stated former Binance CEO Changpeng “CZ” Zhao.
His role at YZi Labs will be more hands-on than it was at Binance Labs, as the venture arm expands its focus into AI and biotechnology.
Changpeng Zhao is returning to direct mentorship, planning to work closely with the founders of incubated startups to help them refine their strategies and unlock new opportunities.
