CoinShares and Grayscale propose ETFs tracking XRP, Litecoin, and Solana amid regulatory changes

Grayscale Investments and CoinShares have filed multiple proposals for exchange-traded funds (ETFs) tracking cryptocurrencies like XRP, Litecoin, and Solana.

These filings, submitted shortly after President Donald Trump began his term and amid significant changes in the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), signal a growing effort to expand regulated crypto investment options, reports The Block.

CoinShares has filed registration statements for two ETFs: the CoinShares Litecoin ETF and the CoinShares XRP ETF. At the same time, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) submitted 19b-4 filings for the Grayscale Litecoin Trust and Grayscale Solana Trust, both of which include language proposing a conversion to spot ETFs. This marks a strategic shift as firms seek to capitalize on regulatory developments that have already approved spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs over the past year.

The filings come on the heels of SEC leadership changes. Former SEC Chair Gary Gensler stepped down earlier this week, and President Trump has appointed Paul Atkins, a crypto-friendly former regulator, to lead the agency. This leadership change, combined with the SEC’s new crypto task force led by Commissioner Hester Peirce, suggests a potential pivot toward clearer and more accommodating crypto regulations.

A shifting regulatory landscape

The SEC’s crypto task force, nicknamed "Crypto Mom," has pledged to hold industry roundtables, focus on practical registration paths, and judiciously allocate enforcement resources. The new administration is expected to take a friendlier stance on digital assets, raising hopes for expedited ETF approvals and broader acceptance of cryptocurrency investment products.

These developments reflect the industry’s growing momentum toward integrating crypto assets into traditional financial markets. If successful, these ETF proposals could provide investors with new ways to access and trade popular cryptocurrencies like XRP, Litecoin, and Solana, while also setting the stage for a more inclusive regulatory framework.
