Kraken has announced leadership changes in its Canadian operations

In a significant leadership shift, Kraken, one of the largest cryptocurrency exchanges, has appointed Alex Mehrdad as the new General Manager of its Canadian business. This move underscores Kraken's commitment to strengthening its position in the country.
Kraken announces the appointment of Alex Mehrdad as the new General Manager of its Canadian operations. Mehrdad will lead the next phase of the company's growth across Canada, following a significant year of expansion under the leadership of Mark Greenberg. Greenberg, who successfully doubled the size of Kraken's Canadian business, has been promoted to head the newly established global Asset Growth & Management division.
Over the past year, Greenberg has played a pivotal role in Kraken’s success in Canada, particularly during the ongoing pre-registration undertaking (PRU) process. His efforts to collaborate with regulators have been instrumental in advocating for client protections while ensuring that Canadians can access innovative crypto products and services. His success in this role has led to a promotion and he will now focus on helping Kraken's global clients maximize their wealth-building opportunities.
Mehrdad has been a key contributor to Kraken’s Canadian team, drawing on his extensive experience in management consultancy and fintech startups. His strategic vision and leadership have been instrumental in doubling the number of monthly transacting users in Canada since the beginning of the year. With over 250 Kraken employees now operating across the country, Kraken has become one of the largest crypto employers in Canada.
"Pleased to share that I am driving the next phase of Kraken's mission in Canada," said Mehrdad at his LinkedIn.
Greenberg expressed his confidence in Mehrdad's ability to continue Kraken's growth in Canada, noting, "It's official, I'm no longer the GM for Kraken in Canada. I'm handing over the reigns to Alexandre Mehrdad, who has been a huge part of Kraken's Canadian growth story over the past 2 years. A bittersweet moment for sure, and I'll never stop being a cheerleader for Kraken in Canada. (Alex will still have to put up with me as Board Chair, though)".
As Kraken prepares for another period of growth in the Canadian crypto market, the company remains committed to enhancing its product offerings and strengthening compliance measures. With a solid foundation in place, Kraken is well-positioned to meet the growing demand for high-quality crypto products in Canada.
