TON expands Blockchain connectivity: LayerZero to support 12 networks

The TON Foundation has responded to community criticism accusing developers of isolating users from other blockchains.
Telegram developers previously announced that all supported mini-apps and games must use TON and the TON Connect protocol, excluding other blockchains. This decision, revealed in late January, sparked frustration among users. However, the TON Foundation quickly clarified that it does not intend to turn its ecosystem into a "walled garden."
Promising integration
On February 11, TON announced its integration with the LayerZero protocol, enabling cross-chain interaction between Toncoin and other networks.
In the initial phase, LayerZero will support messaging and transactions between TON, Ethereum, Solana, and Tron, with plans to expand to 12 networks.
Additionally, to simplify app development within the TON ecosystem, LayerZero has introduced a new tool called FunC++.
"By connecting TON to a wide range of other chains, developers now have all the necessary tools to create decentralized applications for a truly global audience," said Max Persovsky, COO of TON Foundation.
Despite the promising news, TON’s price has yet to react positively. According to CoinMarketCap, TON has lost over 1% in the past 24 hours, trading at $3.78 at the time of writing.
As we wrote, Telegram has announced that all third-party cryptocurrency wallets on its platform must integrate TON Connect, following an exclusive partnership with The Open Network (TON) Foundation.
