Trump-backed WLFI invests in Ondo Finance amid crypto market turmoil

World Liberty Financial (WLFI), a Web3 platform backed by the Trump family, has confirmed a significant investment in Ondo Finance as part of its broader push into tokenized real-world assets.
The move comes amid heightened volatility in the crypto markets following the U.S. administration’s recent tax measures on Mexico and Canada, according to the Cryptopolitan.
Ondo Finance, a leader in tokenized assets, announced its partnership with WLFI to integrate its digital securities into the WLFI ecosystem. The investment saw WLFI purchasing Ondo Finance’s native tokens and tens of millions of dollars worth of Ether, signaling a strategic shift toward blockchain-based financial reserves.
A step toward a digital asset reserve?
Chase Herro, co-founder of WLFI, suggested that the newly acquired tokens may contribute to a “strategic reserve,” though the company has not disclosed specific details on its purpose. The initiative echoes former President Trump’s campaign pledge to establish a digital asset stockpile, raising speculation about whether WLFI’s investments align with that vision.
The partnership will allow WLFI’s eligible users access to Ondo’s tokenized U.S. Treasury securities and other real-world assets. Donald Trump Jr., WLFI’s Web3 Ambassador, described the collaboration as a milestone in merging traditional finance with blockchain technology, offering new yield opportunities to investors.
Ondo CEO Nathan Allman emphasized the growing demand for institutional-grade blockchain solutions, highlighting the partnership’s role in advancing financial stability and liquidity. With the crypto sector navigating uncertain regulatory waters, WLFI’s investments suggest a deeper alignment between political and financial interests in the evolving digital economy.
The launch of the Official Trump (TRUMP) memecoin on the Solana blockchain has surged its value to $58, theoretically boosting Donald Trump's net worth by nearly 700%. With 80% of the token supply held by Trump-controlled CIC Digital LLC, he could rank among the 30 richest people globally.
