SOL weekend surge fueled by Firedancer development

Solana’s price has seen a strong bullish push, surging over the past weekend by 13% following a renewed wave of optimism around its ecosystem. After reaching a high of $158 early last week, SOL experienced a brief pullback, driven by a dip in network activity on October 16-17. However, Friday through Sunday saw the token rebound from $150, breaking through the $160 resistance level that had persisted for three months.
The recent bullish surge is largely attributed to renewed excitement surrounding Solana's Firedancer validator, developed by Jump Crypto. The validator aims to significantly enhance Solana's blockchain performance, which has led to a boost in market sentiment.
Additionally, trading volume surged by 24.88% on Friday, reaching $4.76 billion, signaling increased investor confidence. However, Open Interest (OI) for SOL saw a minor 1% decline, currently standing at $2.42 billion—indicating a slight cooling off while maintaining overall bullish sentiment.
SOL technical outlook
As of Monday, Solana's price sits at $166 after losing steam at $171. Despite this short-term dip, Solana’s long-term direction remains bullish, with analysts eyeing the $190 resistance level, which last appeared in July, marking an eight-month high.
On the technical front, Solana continues to show strength. The 20-day, 50-day EMAs offers key support levels around $150 and also signals bullish momentum, reinforcing confidence for an extended rally. Additionally, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) hovers near 70, without any significant divergence from the price swing, further supporting the possibility of continued upward momentum.
Although bulls have lost momentum at the $171 level, Solana remains poised for a continued uptrend. As long as support holds at $160 and the 20- and 50-day EMAs continue to provide backing, further upside toward the $190 resistance remains a plausible scenario. With renewed development efforts like Firedancer, Solana’s ecosystem is well-positioned for growth in both technical and fundamental aspects.
