Elon Musk xAI debuts Grok-3 model with enhanced AI

Elon Musk xAI debuts Grok-3 model with enhanced AI xAI Grok-3 model shows significant AI advancements over competitors

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has unveiled its upgraded Grok-3 model, positioning it as a formidable challenger to OpenAI’s GPT-4, Google Gemini, and other AI models.

The release comes just days after Musk’s $97.4 billion bid to purchase OpenAI’s nonprofit arm was rejected, intensifying an already growing rivalry between Musk’s company and the industry leader, reports Bloomberg.

Performance Claims and Rivals

Grok-3, according to xAI, outperforms OpenAI’s GPT-4, Google’s Gemini, DeepSeek’s V3, and Anthropic’s Claude in benchmarks across math, science, and coding. Musk highlighted that the new model boasts “more than 10 times” the compute power of its predecessor, Grok-2, which completed its pre-training in early January.

However, these performance claims have not yet been independently verified, sparking further competition between Musk’s xAI and OpenAI, which Musk has publicly criticized for its shift toward a for-profit model.

Smart Search Engine and Future Plans

In addition to Grok-3, xAI introduced a new smart search engine called DeepSearch. This tool functions as a reasoning chatbot that explains its thought process when analyzing queries, offering options for research, brainstorming, and data analysis.

Musk’s team also teased plans to launch a voice-based chatbot, signaling further innovation in AI and chatbot technology. “We’re continually improving the models every day, and literally within 24 hours, you’ll see improvements,” Musk stated during the live-streamed presentation. Background of Musk’s Involvement with OpenAI

Musk, who was involved in OpenAI’s founding, has been an outspoken critic of the company since leaving its board in 2018. His recent lawsuits accuse OpenAI of deviating from its founding mission, and the rejected bid to buy the nonprofit wing marked the latest chapter in his complex relationship with the company.

As xAI pushes forward with its latest developments, all eyes are on how the competition between these tech giants will unfold, with Musk promising continuous improvements to his AI models.

Recently, Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI is in discussions to raise $10 billion in fresh funding, a move that would boost the company’s valuation to $75 billion.
