Disney donates $15 million for wildfire relief efforts in Los Angeles

As catastrophic wildfires continue to devastate large parts of Los Angeles County, destroying over 10,000 buildings and causing significant loss of life, The Walt Disney Company and other major entertainment companies are stepping up to support relief efforts.
The fires have caused extensive damage, with losses running into tens of billions of dollars. In response, Disney and Paramount Global have committed substantial resources to aid the affected communities. Disney, based in Burbank, announced on Friday that it would donate $15 million to various relief organizations, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
These funds will support key institutions such as the American Red Cross, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Disney CEO Bob Iger expressed solidarity with the Los Angeles community, reflecting on the company’s deep ties to the region.
“As this tragedy continues to unfold, The Walt Disney Company is committed to supporting our community and our employees as we all work together to recover and rebuild from this unbelievable devastation,” said Iger. He emphasized Disney’s historical connection to Los Angeles, a city where Walt Disney “pursued his dreams and created extraordinary storytelling that means so much to so many people around the world.”
Paramount’s $1 million contribution
Meanwhile, Paramount Global has pledged $1 million to organizations such as the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, and the Red Cross. In a memo to staff, co-executives Brian Robbins, Chris McCarthy, and George Cheeks expressed their condolences and outlined how the company was supporting relief efforts.
“As major wildfires continue to erupt across parts of Los Angeles — causing massive devastation to families, homes, and communities — our hearts are with everyone affected by this tragedy,” the executives wrote. They added that CBS would drive donations to the Red Cross, and noted that local station KCAL had already raised over $300,000 for relief efforts.
Paramount’s other initiatives include donations of meals to first responders, and support from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and BET, which are contributing to fire relief and covering the impact on communities, particularly the historic Black community in Altadena.
Additionally, Circle, one of the largest players in the cryptocurrency space, has made a bold statement by contributing $1 million in USDC to President Donald Trump’s inaugural committee.
