Panyaza Lesufi champions R4 billion road expansion to boost economy

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has announced a commitment to address the persistent traffic congestion issues in the province by settling eToll debts. The elimination of these debts is intended to free up R4 billion for the South African National Roads Agency Limited (SANRAL) to use on maintenance and expansion of road infrastructure.
According to Lesufi, this strategic move aims to stimulate economic growth within the province by enhancing road connectivity. Analysts have expressed optimism about the potential impact of improved infrastructure on the regional economy. Victor Cohen, transport economist, believes that ''upgraded road infrastructure will lead to increased productivity and attract investment.''
Transportation costs, which are a major component of business expenses, are expected to decline as a result of the improved road conditions. Business leaders in Gauteng are now looking forward to the positive impacts of these developments on the provincial economy.
