Henry Swieca, born in 1957, is an influential figure in the hedge fund industry, best known for co-founding Highbridge Capital Management in 1992 alongside Glenn Dubin. Growing up in Washington Heights, New York, in a family of Polish Holocaust survivors, Swieca faced significant adversity when both his parents passed away by the time he was 19. This early loss drove him to enter the stock market to support his own and his brother’s education. Swieca’s financial career began with Merrill Lynch, and he later became one of the first traders at the New York Futures Exchange. In the 1980s, he partnered with Dubin at E.F. Hutton, combining traditional securities and derivative strategies. Highbridge Capital quickly gained prominence under his leadership, providing some of the best risk-adjusted returns in the hedge fund space. After selling Highbridge to JPMorgan Chase, Swieca went on to found Talpion Fund Management, a family office, and has continued to invest in a variety of asset classes, including venture capital and real estate.
