Buddha's birthday is a public holiday in Hong Kong. According to legend, on Buddha's birthday, nine dragons sprayed water to bathe the newborn child. Since then, people in Hong Kong have bathed Buddha statues with tea on this day, symbolizing the purification of the soul. The second name of the holiday is Bathing Buddha Festival. The holiday has been official since 1998.
On May 26, 2023, trading sessions with CFDs on HK50 and all stocks on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange will be closed, TeleTrade said on its official website.
