IFC Markets suspends select Japanese stock CFDs over corporate actions

IFC Markets, a global brokerage firm, has announced the suspension of trading for several Contracts for Difference (CFDs) on Japanese stocks due to upcoming corporate actions by the issuing companies.
The affected instruments include NEC Corp. (#T-6701), The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company Ltd. (#T-8750), Ajinomoto Co. Inc. (#T-2802), and KDDI Corp. (#T-9433).
According to an official statement from IFC Markets, the suspension will take effect on March 26, 2025. In preparation for the halt, all open positions on these CFDs will be automatically closed at the market price at the close of trading on March 25, 2025.
The broker emphasized that this is a temporary measure directly related to corporate actions involving the respective companies. While the exact nature of these events has not been disclosed, such actions typically include stock splits, mergers, dividend distributions, or structural changes that can significantly impact stock valuation and trading conditions.
Recommendations for traders
IFC Markets is advising traders to closely monitor their portfolios and take the suspension schedule into account when planning their trading strategies. As all open positions will be closed at the market price on March 25, clients are encouraged to prepare their exit strategies in advance to avoid unexpected outcomes.
Transparency and trading safety
The broker reiterated its commitment to maintaining a transparent and secure trading environment. Temporary suspensions like this are standard practice in financial markets and are aimed at protecting clients from excessive volatility and ensuring orderly market operations during periods of structural change.
IFC Markets continues to provide multi-asset trading solutions and remains a trusted platform for both retail and institutional traders worldwide. Investors are encouraged to stay updated with IFC Markets’ announcements regarding changes in trading schedules and instrument availability.
It is worth noting that IFC Markets recently adjusted the minimum spreads on U.S. indices as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance trading conditions for its clients.
