MetaMask's cryptocurrency and NFT wallet, a product of blockchain software company ConsenSys, has partnered with Robinhood to allow users to directly purchase digital assets.

Wallet users will be able to buy cryptocurrencies directly from MetaMask's interface through Robinhood's trading platform, MetaMask said in a message on X.

The main goal of the partnership is to simplify the cryptocurrency transaction process by leveraging Robinhood's ordering mechanism.

"The integration between MetaMask and Robinhood is an exciting step in our shared commitment to reduce the hassle for users looking to access the self-custody option," said Lorenzo Santos, senior product manager at Consensys.

"We know that cryptocurrency and Internet users want more control and ownership. This will help more people gain seamless and independent access to cryptocurrency by giving them more purchase options from service providers they already use and trust," he added.

"Our mission at Robinhood is to reduce discord wherever possible to increase web3 adoption," said Sung Lee, Head of Product at Robinhood Crypto, commenting on the partnership.

The Consensys survey, conducted in partnership with YouGov, found that 79% of respondents want more control over their online identity, and 67% believe they should own the things they create online. In addition, the survey found that a third of internet users cited the complexity of Web3 technology as a key barrier to entry into the cryptocurrency ecosystem.

15,000 people took part in the survey.

This data points to the need to simplify cryptocurrency users' access to self-custody services, Consensys stressed.
