Wise, one of the world's oldest digital banks, has announced changes to its senior leadership team.

Clare Gilmartin will become Wise's Senior Independent Director, effective April 19, having previously served as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Remuneration Committee.

Gilmartin joined Wise in June 2021 from Trainline, where she was CEO. She holds a bachelor's degree from University College Dublin.

Elizabeth Chambers has also been appointed by the Wise Board as a Non-Executive Director. She also holds non-executive board positions at TSB Bank, Vanquis Banking Group and Evelyn Partners and is an Operating Partner at Searchlight Capital, according to the FNG portal.

As a former McKinsey partner and director of marketing and strategy for Barclays, Barclaycard, Western Union and Freshfields, she has helped grow the Wise financial industry. She will also be appointed to the Remuneration Committee.

"Having worked with global banks, payments providers, wealth managers, and consumer lenders, I’m excited to bring this experience to the Board at Wise, and to supporting the leadership team in achieving these aspirations," said Chambers.

"I am thrilled to expand my role at Wise today, and help Wise as it continues on its mission and revolutionizes international money for everyone, everywhere," Gilmartin noted.

Wise is a digital bank that launched in 2011 and is regulated by the FCA and FinCen. The company supports transfers between 80 countries, and 54 currencies can be held in accounts. All standard banking features and services are free, but deposits are only available in seven basic currencies.
