Justin Sun predicts Ethereum growth by 10th anniversary

Ethereum could surge to $5,000 by July 2025, according to Tron founder Justin Sun.
His bullish forecast, made this week on social media platform X, has captured attention across crypto communities as Ethereum approaches its 10-year milestone, reports NewsBTC.
Ethereum, currently trading near $1,789 according to Coingecko, would need to rally almost 200% to meet Sun’s forecast. Posting on April 24, Sun noted the personal significance of Ethereum’s July 30 launch date, which coincides with his own birthday.
“Ethereum shares the same birthday as me—this date is truly meaningful,” Sun wrote. “I suggest a 10x increase—let’s commemorate it together at $5,000!”
Beyond the prediction, Sun proposed a four-point plan to bolster Ethereum’s price growth: the Ethereum Foundation should avoid selling ETH for three years, fund operations through lending and staking, streamline its developer team, and focus development efforts on Layer 1 scalability rather than side projects.
Ethereum’s 10-year anniversary plans underway
The Ethereum Foundation plans to mark the anniversary with a series of global celebrations. Under the Ecosystem Support Program, the Foundation will reimburse up to $500 for local events organized by community members, with applications open until June 15.
The initiative aims to create a “global holiday” atmosphere around Ethereum’s birthday, encouraging widespread community participation across countries and regions.
Meanwhile, Ethereum faces challenges despite its pivotal role in decentralized finance and smart contract innovation. High transaction fees, scalability issues, and user dissatisfaction persist. However, the upcoming “Pectra” upgrade, expected in May 2025, aims to tackle these concerns by reducing transaction costs and improving contract execution.
Support from a rival founder
Sun’s endorsement is notable given his leadership of Tron, a competing blockchain. Despite the rivalry, Sun frequently expresses admiration for Ethereum and maintains personal ETH holdings.
Whether Ethereum can achieve Sun’s ambitious $5,000 target remains uncertain. Still, the combination of network upgrades, global community engagement, and renewed optimism could provide momentum as Ethereum prepares to celebrate a decade of blockchain innovation.
Recently we wrote that Charles Hoskinson delivered a pointed critique of Ethereum’s long-term viability during an April 23 livestream, arguing that the platform suffers from three major “self-inflicted wounds” that could prove fatal without serious reform.
