Binance has received formal recognition from the Organized Crime and Triad Bureau (OCTB) of the Hong Kong Police Force (HKPF) for its crucial role in assisting with the investigation of a recent kidnapping case, according to Binance's blog. The exchange's intelligence analysis was instrumental in identifying suspects who were part of a criminal syndicate.
In a letter of appreciation, the Hong Kong Police praised Binance, highlighting the proactive stance the company has taken in collaborating with law enforcement agencies.
This recognition specifically acknowledged the efforts of Carlos Mak, a member of Binance’s investigation team, whose work was pivotal in the case. Mak expressed his gratitude for the recognition, emphasizing Binance's belief in the importance of public-private collaboration in ensuring the security of the digital financial environment.
The case was also noted by Richard Teng, CEO of Binance: "I am proud to share that Binance has been recognized by the Hong Kong Police for our contribution to a kidnapping case. Our team's intelligence analysis was key in identifying the suspects," Teng said at X.
The exchange recently partnered with the OCTB to conduct an offline law enforcement training session at the Hong Kong Police Headquarters, providing officers with essential knowledge and skills to address the complexities of cybercrimes.
